I have been a psychotherapist for over twenty years. Sometimes life hurts and I strive to help folks find peace, acceptance, healing and new tools to deal with life's challenges.
I am licensed to evaluate, diagnose and treat individuals and families.I am a Board Certified Licensed Clinical Social Worker.
I often work with clients suffering marital and parenting problems. I work with children and adolescents troubled by problems from divorce.
I have been working in the family court setting providing services to folks going through high conflict divorce since 2001.
I have been doing Social Investigations, formerly called custody evaluations since 2001. I provide "Brief Focused Assessments". Shorter evaluations designed to address specific issues. BFA reports are less costly and focus on specific issues. I am qualified as an expert witness.
I have met all standards and obtained the training required by the court to work with problems created by divorce and family conflict. This includes training in child development, domestic violence, family systems and training and certification as a family law mediatior.
I am trained in Interdisciplinary Collaborative Family Practice. Next Generation Divorce is a website providing a list of collaboratively trained practioners.
I am a graduate of Fordham University, achieving a Bachelors in Psychology, Cum Laude in 1987. I continued working towards a Masters in Social Work, achieved with honors from Rutgers Graduate School of Social Work in 1993.
I gained experience as a contract mediator for the Twelfth Judicial circuit. I was a contract mediator from 2004 through 2010.
I do home studies in child adoptions and am familiar with all aspects of this process.
I worked for Adoption Resources of Florida/MAPS International from 1998-2007.
I was the the Clinical Director of MAPS/Adoption Resources from 2002 until April 2007. The Florida Division of the agency was sold at that time.
I currently continue to provide adoption home studies as an Independent Contractor.
Prior to moving to Florida in 1997 I was employed at Barnert Hospital in Paterson, New Jersey. I gained experience in many areas of medical social work. I provided psychotherapy to patients and their families in the Intensive Care Unit and Coronary Care Unit. I worked in many units in the hospital during my employment including: Pediatrics, Maternity and Neonatal and the Detox Unit. I developed and led a teen mother's group with a colleague at the hospital's Children and Families Counseling Center. The group gained recognition in the community. I worked in the Treatment Assessment Program for HIV/AIDS that was funded by the CDC. I was a therapist and a case manager.
In 1995, I began my Family Counseling practice in Woodcliff Lake, New Jersey. I was also employed at a counseling center in Ridgewood, New Jersey during this time.
In 1997 after the death of my husband, I moved to Florida with my two young children and met the Florida requirements for licensing.
I am a Former President and member of the Board of Directors of the Family Court Professional Collaborative of the Twelfth Judicial Circuit. I have enjoyed being a member of the FCPC since 2006.
Prior to the formation of the FCPC, (Family Court Professional Collaborative) I was a member of the FLAG Court Support Services Subcommittee in 2004.
